Can I Reheat Ramen Noodles? Tips on Which Method Is Best

Ramen noodles seem to be having a revival of sorts. Gone are the days when our only options were for those 10 for $1 packets that everyone knew were just not good for you. We loved them. But they were pretty far from actual Ramen noodles.

Today, you can find many options on pretty much any market shelf, as well as a good selection of Asian cuisine restaurants that offer Ramen noodles on the menu. There are more and more restaurants opening that feature ramen as their primary dish. Obviously, this is nothing new in Japan…but in the US and across Europe, ramen is HOT!

The question is, once you get your Ramen, what do you do if you have leftovers? You’re left wondering how to reheat Ramen noodles.

Can You Reheat Ramen Noodles?

Yes, of course you can reheat Ramen noodles. That’s not the problem.

Can You Reheat Ramen Noodles?

Pretty much any food that has been frozen or refrigerated can be reheated.

The challenge is to bring the food back to life in a way that is reminiscent of its original state. You want it to be as good, or at least close to as good, as the first time you had it.

When it comes to reheating, different methods work better for different foods. While most of us have microwaves, ovens, stove tops, air fryers, and more, not every one of these appliances will get us the quality we’re seeking.

For example, foods that are breaded or deep fried often do better when reheated in an oven or an air fryer. Foods that are baked or grilled tend to do better when reheated in an oven or on a grill.

It might seem obvious with Ramen noodles. You may think simply throwing them in the microwave will do the trick, but the various options are worth exploring.

Should You Reheat Ramen Noodles?

Before we answer the question of can you reheat Ramen noodles, it is essential we talk about whether you should reheat Ramen noodles.

The goal of this piece is to discuss ways to reheat Ramen noodles, but the truth is certain foods can cause issues when reheated, particularly if they are reheated improperly.

Thus, it is a good idea to do your own research before reheating any food to be sure you avoid these issues.

How to Reheat Ramen Noodles in the Oven

Reheating Ramen noodles in an oven is pretty easy.

  1. Choose a shallow, oven-safe dish. You want a dish that will allow your noodles and broth to only reach about a 1-inch height inside the dish. Ramen can be thoroughly heated while in the oven.
  2. Next, preheat your oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit.
  3. Place the dish with the Ramen in it in the oven and allow it to heat for about 5 minutes.

That’s it! Enjoy your Ramen.

How to Reheat Ramen Noodles in the Microwave

Your natural inclination is probably to reheat your Ramen noodles in the microwave, and it’s a good option. To use the microwave for this process:

  1. Place your leftover Ramen noodles in a shallow bowl, again with the goal of maximizing your exposed surface space.
  2. Place your bowl with the Ramen in it in the microwave and heat on high for 2 minutes.
  3. Remove the bowl and stir or flip your Ramen noodles then return the bowl to the microwave for another 30 seconds.
  4. Serve and enjoy.

How to Reheat Ramen Noodles in an Air Fryer

Okay, so this one probably seems impossible. Only a crazy person would think about reheating Ramen noodles in an air fryer, right?

Not so fast.

Sure, you can’t reheat Ramen noodles in a traditional basket in an air fryer. The noodles will simply fall through, along with the broth.

But, if you happen to have a Ninja Foodi or other similar combination appliance that includes an air fryer, an instant pot, and a pressure cooker, you actually can reheat your Ramen noodles.

  1. Simply place the Ramen noodles in the instant pot, insert, close the lid, and turn the valve to a sealing position.
  2. Press the Pressure Cook or Manual button and set the time to zero. Your noodles will be ready in a few minutes, as the instant pot comes to pressure.
  3. Once your instant pot switches to Keep Warm, your noodles will be ready.

How to Reheat Ramen Noodles on a Grill

Again, you’re gonna ask me if I’m crazy.

Reheating Ramen noodles on a grill seems like the task of a crazy person.

But wait, what if all you have is a grill?

Is it possible to reheat Ramen noodles on the grill?

Sure. Why not?

Think about it. Say you went out to eat on your way to camp for the weekend, and you have leftover Ramen noodles that you would really like to enjoy the next day, but all you have is the grill at your campsite.

No problem.

  1. Get a nice fire going so your grill is nice and toasty.
  2. Put a cast-iron pot on the grill.
  3. Add just the broth, and let it sit on the fire until it starts boiling.
  4. Add your Ramen noodles to the broth and remove the pot from the flames.

Now you can enjoy reheated Ramen noodles from the grill.

How to Reheat Ramen Noodles in a Toaster Oven

The toaster oven is often the go-to appliance for college students or young people on their own for the first time.

It can be a lifesaver.

How To Reheat Ramen Noodles in a Toaster Oven

To reheat Ramen noodles in a toaster oven:

  1. Put your Ramen noodles and the broth in a small, cast-iron pan.
  2. Turn your toaster oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  3. Slide your cast-iron pan with the Ramen noodles inside into the toaster oven.
  4. Check on your noodles after about 5 minutes. You can always cook longer if needed. The trick is not to let them sit for too long, so the noodles absorb all of the broth and become soggy.
  5. Enjoy!

How to Reheat Ramen Noodles in a Pan on the Stove

To reheat Ramen noodles in a pan on the stove, you’ll follow similar instructions to reheating on the grill.

  1. Choose a medium-size pot, and place it on the stove on medium-high.
  2. Pour in just your broth without the Ramen noodles.
  3. Once your broth comes to a boil, place the noodles in the pot, and remove the pot from the heat.
  4. The cold noodles will bring the boiling broth down to an edible temperature, and you’ll have perfectly reheated Ramen.
